Treatment

We Speak No Americano’ is a song by the Australian duo Yolanda Be Cool and producer DCUP and will last approximately 3minutes. The original version of the song which we used was over 7 minutes long and was the club version, however that version was too long for our video so we reduced it down using Adobe Sound Booth. The main audience for our video will be both males and females aged around 15-24, but it will also appeal to older age groups who are fans of swing house and dance music as they are the main genre’s of the song. Therefore, we need to produce an original video which will catch the attention of our target audience but that includes the key elements of a swing house video. As a result, we researched other swing house videos and found the key components that we need to incorporate into our own video, such as: they feature a variety of time periods from the 1900’s, are fast paced, colourful, retro style effects and include lots of random idea’s that doesn’t always match the song (disjuncture). So, we decided that the main idea for our music video would be to begin in our current time period then change the time period to the 1950's and 1920's and end the video in 2010. The storyline will be a comedy and consist of a security guard chasing two men in suits who are trouble makers through each of the different time periods we have chosen. The chase will be filmed in four main locations: the Manchester Arndale car-park, under the subway in Castlefield and on the cobble streets around Castlefield/Manchester. By using a variety of locations, we can film a different time period in each place which will keep the audience’s attention an fits in with our swing house genre. We have considered filming some scene's using a green screen, however this is not in keeping with the genre so we decided against it.

Planning Before we started our filming, we first visted a number of locations around Manchester and Stockport to find the most ideal places to shoot our video. For example, we found that the rooftop of the Manchester Arndale carpark was the best location to shoot a carpark scene as it was quiet and the location shows the area well so the audience may recognise the area. Lewis drew pictures of the area where we wear going to film as this would help us work out what we were going to do filming wise in that location. This is the Image of the tunnel where we shot the last scene the area where this is is newbridge in manchester near castlefield and although this was our last scene we did not film it last as we filmed it when we filmed our castlefield clips for convinience. This picture is of the roof of the Manchester Arndale Center where we filmed our first scene with the car. This picture shows the Castlefield area where we filmed our sepia film whick included varius effects. In this image it shows the manchester museum of science and industry we where going to film outside but got permission to film inside, this was for our B&W 1930's scene. This was an area which we did not use its in the northern quarter, however we found that there were too many people around so had to find another area.

There are some pictures of Castlefield where we filmed

Furthermore, once we had chosen our locations we then practiced a number of different ways we could shoot each scene and filmed some test shots to see which would be the best camera angles to use. This then made our shot list easier to produce before we started the actual filming. theese are some test runs of the areas that we chose before acrually fiming as we wanted to see how they looked before filming our recordings for the music video.
